A rich man's wealth is his strong city; the poverty of the poor is their ruin.

"See the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and sought refuge in his own destruction!"[2]

The poor is disliked even by his neighbor, but the rich has many friends.

A rich man's wealth is his strong city, and like a high wall in his imagination.

All a poor man's brothers hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him! He pursues them with words, but does not have them.[3]

For the protection of wisdom is like the protection of money, and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.

Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches,

And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, "Children, how difficult it is[2] to enter the kingdom of God!

And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.'

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
