The LORD preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me.

The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.

How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.

The law of the LORD is perfect,[3] reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;

Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

My son, do not lose sight of these -- keep sound wisdom and discretion,

"I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.

I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.

"And now, O sons, listen to me: blessed are those who keep my ways.

O simple ones, learn prudence; O fools, learn sense.

Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it. It shall belong to those who walk on the way; even if they are fools, they shall not go astray.[1]

Keep them and do them, for that will be your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who, when they hear all these statutes, will say, 'Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.'

So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled.
