Moses commanded the people of Israel, saying, "This is the land that you shall inherit by lot, which the LORD has commanded to give to the nine tribes and to the half-tribe.
On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, "To your offspring I give[3] this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates,
Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours. Your territory shall be from the wilderness to[4] the Lebanon and from the River, the river Euphrates, to the western sea.
"When you allot the land as an inheritance, you shall set apart for the LORD a portion of the land as a holy district, 25,000 cubits[1] long and 20,000[2] cubits broad. It shall be holy throughout its whole extent.
