Numbers 27:18

So the LORD said to Moses, "Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him.

And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him. So the people of Israel obeyed him and did as the LORD had commanded Moses.

and he laid his hands on him and commissioned him as the LORD directed through Moses.

Then the Spirit of the LORD was upon Jephthah, and he passed through Gilead and Manasseh and passed on to Mizpah of Gilead, and from Mizpah of Gilead he passed on to the Ammonites.

and of instruction about washings,[1] the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.

Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, nor take part in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.

Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you.

Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.

These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands on them.

Therefore, brothers,[2] pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty.

One of the young men answered, "Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a man of good presence, and the LORD is with him."

These were the names of the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Hoshea the son of Nun Joshua.

from the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Nun;

And I will come down and talk with you there. And I will take some of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them, and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, so that you may not bear it yourself alone.

So Moses said to Joshua, "Choose for us men, and go out and fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand."

Even with me the LORD was angry on your account and said, 'You also shall not go in there.

The LORD your God himself will go over before you. He will destroy these nations before you, so that you shall dispossess them, and Joshua will go over at your head, as the LORD has spoken.

And I commanded Joshua at that time, 'Your eyes have seen all that the LORD your God has done to these two kings. So will the LORD do to all the kingdoms into which you are crossing.

And the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, the days approach when you must die. Call Joshua and present yourselves in the tent of meeting, that I may commission him." And Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the tent of meeting.

Just as we obeyed Moses in all things, so we will obey you. Only may the LORD your God be with you, as he was with Moses!
