And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son.

He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, brought a burnt offering and sacrifices to God; and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat bread with Moses' father-in-law before God.

The LORD called Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying,

And he answered and said, "Must I not take care to speak what the LORD puts in my mouth?"

Balaam said to Balak, "Stand here beside your burnt offering, while I meet the LORD over there."

Balak did as Balaam had said. And Balak and Balaam offered on each altar a bull and a ram.

But Balaam answered Balak, "Did I not tell you, 'All that the LORD says, that I must do'?"

and God met Balaam. And Balaam said to him, "I have arranged the seven altars and I have offered on each altar a bull and a ram."

When Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he did not go, as at other times, to look for omens, but set his face toward the wilderness.

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.

but I would not listen to Balaam. Indeed, he blessed you. So I delivered you out of his hand.
