Nehemiah 9:17

They refused to obey and were not mindful of the wonders that you performed among them, but they stiffened their neck and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But you are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and did not forsake them.

The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers. May he not leave us or forsake us,

He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God. He stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to the LORD, the God of Israel.

For we are slaves. Yet our God has not forsaken us in our slavery, but has extended to us his steadfast love before the kings of Persia, to grant us some reviving to set up the house of our God, to repair its ruins, and to give us protection[3] in Judea and Jerusalem.

Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.

But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel.

Our fathers, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wondrous works; they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast love, but rebelled by the Sea, at the Red Sea.

But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.

They did not keep God's covenant, but refused to walk according to his law.

They forgot his works and the wonders that he had shown them.

Yet he, being compassionate, atoned for their iniquity and did not destroy them; he restrained his anger often and did not stir up all his wrath.

But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.

And the LORD said to Moses, "I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people.

Because I have called and you refused to listen, have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded,

But my people have forgotten me; they make offerings to false gods; they made them stumble in their ways, in the ancient roads, and to walk into side roads, not the highway,

"Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, behold, I am bringing upon this city and upon all its towns all the disaster that I have pronounced against it, because they have stiffened their neck, refusing to hear my words."

Yet they did not listen to me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck. They did worse than their fathers.

And she has rebelled against my rules by doing wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries all around her; for they have rejected my rules and have not walked in my statutes.

To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him

and rend your hearts and not your garments." Return to the LORD, your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.

Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not spurn them, neither will I abhor them so as to destroy them utterly and break my covenant with them, for I am the LORD their God.

The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, and the LORD will by no means clear the guilty. His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

And the LORD said to Moses, "How long will this people despise me? And how long will they not believe in me, in spite of all the signs that I have done among them?

But Moses said, "Why now are you transgressing the command of the LORD, when that will not succeed?

Moreover, you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up."

Our fathers refused to obey him, but thrust him aside, and in their hearts they turned to Egypt,

For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."

See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven.

For the LORD will not forsake his people, for his great name's sake, because it has pleased the LORD to make you a people for himself.
