Judah is a lion's cub; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down; he crouched as a lion and as a lioness; who dares rouse him?

Therefore all hands will be feeble, and every human heart will melt.

For thus the LORD said to me, "As a lion or a young lion growls over his prey, and when a band of shepherds is called out against him is not terrified by their shouting or daunted at their noise, so the LORD of hosts will come down to fight[1] on Mount Zion and on its hill.

Before them peoples are in anguish; all faces grow pale.

The lion tore enough for his cubs and strangled prey for his lionesses; he filled his caves with prey and his dens with torn flesh.

Woe to the bloody city, all full of lies and plunder -- no end to the prey!

Her officials within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves that leave nothing till the morning.

Behold, a people! As a lioness it rises up and as a lion it lifts itself; it does not lie down until it has devoured the prey and drunk the blood of the slain."
