"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not!

Woe to them, for they have strayed from me! Destruction to them, for they have rebelled against me! I would redeem them, but they speak lies against me.

Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried out, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.' But they did not hear or pay attention to me, declares the LORD.

and sent his servants[1] to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.

while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them.

saying, 'If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.'

Thus you witness against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets.

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

But he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him,

who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out, and displease God and oppose all mankind

And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.[1] When I saw her, I marveled greatly.

The LORD repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge!"
