"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?"

This is the great and first commandment.

And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices."

And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself."

For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot.

"And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
