And he said, "Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD." So he[4] had him ride in his chariot.

But he replied to one of them, 'Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius?

Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or do you begrudge my generosity?'[2]

"And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.

"Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.

But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

And he said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.

But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.

since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him.

Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God.

By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written, "That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged."
