but the boat by this time was a long way[2] from the land,[3] beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them.
The sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing.
And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night[7] he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them,
And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep.
"O afflicted one, storm-tossed and not comforted, behold, I will set your stones in antimony, and lay your foundations with sapphires.[2]
for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.
And putting out to sea from there we sailed under the lee of Cyprus, because the winds were against us.
