Now the chief priests and the whole Council[6] were seeking testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but they found none.

And set two worthless men opposite him, and let them bring a charge against him, saying, 'You have cursed[1] God and the king.' Then take him out and stone him to death."

And the two worthless men came in and sat opposite him. And the worthless men brought a charge against Naboth in the presence of the people, saying, "Naboth cursed God and the king." So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death with stones.

Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence.

Malicious[3] witnesses rise up; they ask me of things that I do not know.

Then the presidents and the satraps sought to find a ground for complaint against Daniel with regard to the kingdom, but they could find no ground for complaint or any fault, because he was faithful, and no error or fault was found in him.

But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother[2] will be liable to judgment; whoever insults[3] his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, 'You fool!' will be liable to the hell[4] of fire.

For many bore false witness against him, but their testimony did not agree.

The high priest then questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching.

Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them; they know what I said."
