He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, for whom they asked, but he delivered Jesus over to their will.

And the king said to Haman, "The money is given to you, the people also, to do with them as it seems good to you."

Then he released for them Barabbas, and having scourged[3] Jesus, delivered him to be crucified.

So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having scourged[1] Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

And they began to accuse him, saying, "We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding us to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king."

So Pilate decided that their demand should be granted.

But they were urgent, saying, "He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee even to this place."

They cried out again, "Not this man, but Barabbas!" Now Barabbas was a robber.

So he delivered him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus,

But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,

And now behold the king whom you have chosen, for whom you have asked; behold, the LORD has set a king over you.
