But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before me.' "

He came to his own,[2] and his own people[3] did not receive him.

"If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.

And the LORD said to Samuel, "Obey the voice of the people in all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them.
