And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall execute vengeance for the covenant. And if you gather within your cities, I will send pestilence among you, and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

So the LORD sent a pestilence on Israel from the morning until the appointed time. And there died of the people from Dan to Beersheba 70,000 men.

I will destine you to the sword, and all of you shall bow down to the slaughter, because, when I called, you did not answer; when I spoke, you did not listen, but you did what was evil in my eyes and chose what I did not delight in."

And in this place I will make void the plans of Judah and Jerusalem, and will cause their people to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those who seek their life. I will give their dead bodies for food to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the earth.

And I will send sword, famine, and pestilence upon them, until they shall be utterly destroyed from the land that I gave to them and their fathers."

"A voice! They flee and escape from the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, vengeance for his temple.

"Sharpen the arrows! Take up the shields! The LORD has stirred up the spirit of the kings of the Medes, because his purpose concerning Babylon is to destroy it, for that is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance for his temple.

I will scatter them among the nations whom neither they nor their fathers have known, and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them."

In the dust of the streets lie the young and the old; my young women and my young men have fallen by the sword; you have killed them in the day of your anger, slaughtering without pity.

"Or if I bring a sword upon that land and say, Let a sword pass through the land, and I cut off from it man and beast,

I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will bring a sword upon you, and will cut off from you man and beast,

"Son of man, speak to your people and say to them, If I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and make him their watchman,

I will send famine and wild beasts against you, and they will rob you of your children. Pestilence and blood shall pass through you, and I will bring the sword upon you. I am the LORD; I have spoken."

and say, You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD! Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains and the hills, to the ravines and the valleys: Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places.

The sword shall rage against their cities, consume the bars of their gates, and devour them because of their own counsels.

I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid. And I will remove harmful beasts from the land, and the sword shall not go through your land.

"I sent among you a pestilence after the manner of Egypt; I killed your young men with the sword, and carried away your horses,[1] and I made the stench of your camp go up into your nostrils; yet you did not return to me," declares the LORD.

Before him went pestilence, and plague followed at his heels.[1]

I will strike them with the pestilence and disinherit them, and I will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they."

Now those who died in the plague were 14,700, besides those who died in the affair of Korah.

So Moses spoke to the people, saying, "Arm men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian to execute the LORD's vengeance on Midian.

There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.

The LORD will make the pestilence stick to you until he has consumed you off the land that you are entering to take possession of it.

Outdoors the sword shall bereave, and indoors terror, for young man and woman alike, the nursing child with the man of gray hairs.

Vengeance is mine, and recompense,[6] for the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and their doom comes swiftly.'

if I sharpen my flashing sword[8] and my hand takes hold on judgment, I will take vengeance on my adversaries and will repay those who hate me.

Then 3,000 men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock of Etam, and said to Samson, "Do you not know that the Philistines are rulers over us? What then is this that you have done to us?" And he said to them, "As they did to me, so have I done to them."
