Leviticus 23:3

"Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work. It is a Sabbath to the LORD in all your dwelling places.

he said to them, "This is what the LORD has commanded: 'Tomorrow is a day of solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to the LORD; bake what you will bake and boil what you will boil, and all that is left over lay aside to be kept till the morning.' "

See! The LORD has given you the Sabbath; therefore on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days. Remain each of you in his place; let no one go out of his place on the seventh day."

So the people rested on the seventh day.

"Six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; that your ox and your donkey may have rest, and the son of your servant woman, and the alien, may be refreshed.

"Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest. In plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.

Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath, not profaning it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil."

"And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD, to minister to him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant --

"If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure[3] on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the LORD honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure,[4] or talking idly;[5]

Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and you shall keep my Sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.

But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, "There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day."

Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

For from ancient generations Moses has had in every city those who proclaim him, for he is read every Sabbath in the synagogues."

I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet
