They shall not make bald patches on their heads, nor shave off the edges of their beards, nor make any cuts on their body.

He has gone up to the temple,[1] and to Dibon, to the high places[2] to weep; over Nebo and over Medeba Moab wails. On every head is baldness; every beard is shorn;

In that day the Lord GOD of hosts called for weeping and mourning, for baldness and wearing sackcloth;

Both great and small shall die in this land. They shall not be buried, and no one shall lament for them or cut himself or make himself bald for them.

"For every head is shaved and every beard cut off. On all the hands are gashes, and around the waist is sackcloth.

They shall not shave their heads or let their locks grow long; they shall surely trim the hair of their heads.

"And you, O son of man, take a sharp sword. Use it as a barber's razor and pass it over your head and your beard. Then take balances for weighing and divide the hair.

And Moses said to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar his sons, "Do not let the hair of your heads hang loose, and do not tear your clothes, lest you die, and wrath come upon all the congregation; but let your brothers, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning that the LORD has kindled.

He shall not make himself unclean as a husband among his people and so profane himself.

I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation; I will bring sackcloth on every waist and baldness on every head; I will make it like the mourning for an only son and the end of it like a bitter day.

Make yourselves bald and cut off your hair, for the children of your delight; make yourselves as bald as the eagle, for they shall go from you into exile.

"You are the sons of the LORD your God. You shall not cut yourselves or make any baldness on your foreheads for the dead.
