and you made known to them your holy Sabbath and commanded them commandments and statutes and a law by Moses your servant.

"If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure[3] on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the LORD honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure,[4] or talking idly;[5]

Moreover, I gave them my Sabbaths, as a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.

For I am the LORD your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. You shall not defile yourselves with any swarming thing that crawls on the ground.

But in the fifth year you may eat of its fruit, to increase its yield for you: I am the LORD your God.

You shall keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

"Do not turn to mediums or wizards;[3] do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the LORD your God.

You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

"Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work. It is a Sabbath to the LORD in all your dwelling places.

You shall keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

"A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am a father, where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is my fear? says the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, who despise my name. But you say, 'How have we despised your name?'

" 'Cursed be anyone who dishonors his father or his mother.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'

" 'Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.

Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?
