"Speak to the people of Israel, saying, 'If a woman conceives and bears a male child, then she shall be unclean seven days. As at the time of her menstruation, she shall be unclean.

And God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

To the woman he said, "I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be for[5] your husband, and he shall rule over you."

So David sent messengers and took her, and she came to him, and he lay with her. (Now she had been purifying herself from her uncleanness.) Then she returned to her house.

Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? There is not one.

What is man, that he can be pure? Or he who is born of a woman, that he can be righteous?

How then can man be in the right before God? How can he who is born of woman be pure?

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

But if she bears a female child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her menstruation. And she shall continue in the blood of her purifying for sixty-six days.

"When a woman has a discharge, and the discharge in her body is blood, she shall be in her menstrual impurity for seven days, and whoever touches her shall be unclean until the evening.

"You shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness while she is in her menstrual uncleanness.

or if he touches human uncleanness, of whatever sort the uncleanness may be with which one becomes unclean, and it is hidden from him, when he comes to know it, and realizes his guilt;

And when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord
