Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you do not receive our testimony.

Why, when I came, was there no man; why, when I called, was there no one to answer? Is my hand shortened, that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, by my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a desert; their fish stink for lack of water and die of thirst.

Who has believed what they heard from us?[1] And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples.

I spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own devices;

All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not!

All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

He came to his own,[2] and his own people[3] did not receive him.

No one has ever seen God; the only God,[4] who is at the Father's side,[5] he has made him known.

For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment -- what to say and what to speak.

Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me.

If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?

No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.[5]

Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again[2] he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

I have come in my Father's name, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.

So Jesus answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.

Jesus answered, "Even if I do bear witness about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.

I have much to say about you and much to judge, but he who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from him."

I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father."

and saw him saying to me, 'Make haste and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.'

In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood

"And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: 'The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation.
