"I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away.

And blessed is the one who is not offended by me."

yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away.[2]

And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household."

And then many will fall away[1] and betray one another and hate one another.

These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told them to you. "I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you.

It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.[3]

so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,

and "A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense." They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.
