There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil.

Though he slay me, I will hope in him;[1] yet I will argue my ways to his face.

although there is no violence in my hands, and my prayer is pure.

where then is my hope? Who will see my hope?

In the fear of the LORD one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.

for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.

and he will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is Zion's[1] treasure.

Therefore, preparing your minds for action,[1] and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile,
