You would even cast lots over the fatherless, and bargain over your friend.

If ever you take your neighbor's cloak in pledge, you shall return it to him before the sun goes down,

"No one shall take a mill or an upper millstone in pledge, for that would be taking a life in pledge.

"If a man is found stealing one of his brothers, of the people of Israel, and if he treats him as a slave or sells him, then that thief shall die. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.

Here I am; testify against me before the LORD and before his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Or whose donkey have I taken? Or whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? Or from whose hand have I taken a bribe to blind my eyes with it? Testify against me[1] and I will restore it to you."
