Rise up, you women who are at ease, hear my voice; you complacent daughters, give ear to my speech.

Then the LORD said to me, "Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my heart would not turn toward this people. Send them out of my sight, and let them go!

"Is Israel a slave? Is he a homeborn servant? Why then has he become a prey?

Behold, he comes up like clouds; his chariots like the whirlwind; his horses are swifter than eagles -- woe to us, for we are ruined!

Crash follows hard on crash; the whole land is laid waste. Suddenly my tents are laid waste, my curtains in a moment.

And I will cast you out of my sight, as I cast out all your kinsmen, all the offspring of Ephraim.

Is it I whom they provoke? declares the LORD. Is it not themselves, to their own shame?

" 'Cut off your hair and cast it away; raise a lamentation on the bare heights, for the LORD has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.'

"Away! Unclean!" people cried at them. "Away! Away! Do not touch!" So they became fugitives and wanderers; people said among the nations, "They shall stay with us no longer."

Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our homes to foreigners.

"Now you, son of man, raise a lamentation over Tyre,

and the land became unclean, so that I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.

lest the land vomit you out when you make it unclean, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.

"You shall therefore keep all my statutes and all my rules and do them, that the land where I am bringing you to live may not vomit you out.

Arise and go, for this is no place to rest, because of uncleanness that destroys with a grievous destruction.

In that day they shall take up a taunt song against you and moan bitterly, and say, "We are utterly ruined; he changes the portion of my people; how he removes it from me! To an apostate he allots our fields."

and you shall grope at noonday, as the blind grope in darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways.[2] And you shall be only oppressed and robbed continually, and there shall be no one to help you.
