These two things shall come to you in a moment, in one day; the loss of children and widowhood shall come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and the great power of your enchantments.

Go up to Gilead, and take balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt! In vain you have used many medicines; there is no healing for you.

Moab is put to shame, for it is broken; wail and cry! Tell it beside the Arnon, that Moab is laid waste.

Therefore I wail for Moab; I cry out for all Moab; for the men of Kir-hareseth I mourn.

"Declare among the nations and proclaim, set up a banner and proclaim, conceal it not, and say: 'Babylon is taken, Bel is put to shame, Merodach is dismayed. Her images are put to shame, her idols are dismayed.'

"How Babylon[5] is taken, the praise of the whole earth seized! How Babylon has become a horror among the nations!

Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has the health of the daughter of my people not been restored?

"Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord GOD: "Wail, 'Alas for the day!'

"Then from his presence the hand was sent, and this writing was inscribed.

[10] And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.

There is no easing your hurt; your wound is grievous. All who hear the news about you clap their hands over you. For upon whom has not come your unceasing evil?

Another angel, a second, followed, saying, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who made all nations drink the wine of the passion[1] of her sexual immorality."

And he called out with a mighty voice, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place for demons, a haunt for every unclean spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable beast.
