your mother shall be utterly shamed, and she who bore you shall be disgraced. Behold, she shall be the last of the nations, a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.

"I will rise up against them," declares the LORD of hosts, "and will cut off from Babylon name and remnant, descendants and posterity," says the LORD.

For thus says the LORD concerning the house of the king of Judah: " 'You are like Gilead to me, like the summit of Lebanon, yet surely I will make you a desert, an uninhabited city.[1]

Then after seventy years are completed, I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, for their iniquity, declares the LORD, making the land an everlasting waste.

all the kings of the north, far and near, one after another, and all the kingdoms of the world that are on the face of the earth. And after them the king of Babylon[1] shall drink.

Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will cause the battle cry to be heard against Rabbah of the Ammonites; it shall become a desolate mound, and its villages shall be burned with fire; then Israel shall dispossess those who dispossessed him, says the LORD.

Her cities have become a horror, a land of drought and a desert, a land in which no one dwells, and through which no son of man passes.

"Therefore, behold, the days are coming when I will punish the images of Babylon; her whole land shall be put to shame, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.

But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.

And on her forehead was written a name of mystery: "Babylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth's abominations."
