Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the LORD, the God of Israel, in order that his fierce anger may turn away from us.

Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger to all generations?

Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?

For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before me, and the breath of life that I made.

Be not so terribly angry, O LORD, and remember not iniquity forever. Behold, please look, we are all your people.

Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, " 'Return, faithless Israel, declares the LORD. I will not look on you in anger, for I am merciful, declares the LORD; I will not be angry forever.

Why then has this people turned away in perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit; they refuse to return.

I have paid attention and listened, but they have not spoken rightly; no man relents of his evil, saying, 'What have I done?' Everyone turns to his own course, like a horse plunging headlong into battle.

"Behold, the princes of Israel in you, every one according to his power, have been bent on shedding blood.

Woe to those who devise wickedness and work evil on their beds! When the morning dawns, they perform it, because it is in the power of their hand.

Their hands are on what is evil, to do it well; the prince and the judge ask for a bribe, and the great man utters the evil desire of his soul; thus they weave it together.
