Jeremiah 26:15

Only know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood upon yourselves and upon this city and its inhabitants, for in truth the LORD sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears."

And the LORD said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the ground.

Then Jeremiah spoke to all the officials and all the people, saying, "The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and this city all the words you have heard.

The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD:

if you do not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own harm,

You shall not pollute the land in which you live, for blood pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it.

Judas, who would betray him, answered, "Is it I, Rabbi?" He said to him, "You have said so."

and plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.

And falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

lest innocent blood be shed in your land that the LORD your God is giving you for an inheritance, and so the guilt of bloodshed be upon you.

For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. It is what they deserve!"
