In that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired beyond the River -- with the king of Assyria -- the head and the hair of the feet, and it will sweep away the beard also.

Why will you still be struck down? Why will you continue to rebel? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

Shall the axe boast over him who hews with it, or the saw magnify itself against him who wields it? As if a rod should wield him who lifts it, or as if a staff should lift him who is not wood!

And now what do you gain by going to Egypt to drink the waters of the Nile? Or what do you gain by going to Assyria to drink the waters of the Euphrates?

I have given him the land of Egypt as his payment for which he labored, because they worked for me, declares the Lord GOD.
