Will you restrain yourself at these things, O LORD? Will you keep silent, and afflict us so terribly?

Why, O LORD, do you stand afar off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

How long, O LORD? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealousy burn like fire?

O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God!

For a long time I have held my peace; I have kept still and restrained myself; now I will cry out like a woman in labor; I will gasp and pant.

Look down from heaven and see, from your holy and beautiful[5] habitation. Where are your zeal and your might? The stirring of your inner parts and your compassion are held back from me.

Behold, it is written before me: "I will not keep silent, but I will repay; I will indeed repay into their bosom

Then the angel of the LORD said, 'O LORD of hosts, how long will you have no mercy on Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, against which you have been angry these seventy years?'

They cried out with a loud voice, "O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"
