But evil shall come upon you, which you will not know how to charm away; disaster shall fall upon you, for which you will not be able to atone; and ruin shall come upon you suddenly, of which you know nothing.

Disaster comes upon disaster; rumor follows rumor. They seek a vision from the prophet, while the law[10] perishes from the priest and counsel from the elders.

And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers,[12] until he should pay all his debt.

I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the very last penny."[10]

They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

While people are saying, "There is peace and security," then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.
