Even in their own kingdom, enjoying your great goodness that you gave them, and in the large and rich land that you set before them, they did not serve you or turn from their wicked works.

In the pride of his face[2] the wicked does not seek him;[3] all his thoughts are, "There is no God."

by your great wisdom in your trade you have increased your wealth, and your heart has become proud in your wealth --

Israel is a luxuriant vine that yields its fruit. The more his fruit increased, the more altars he built; as his country improved, he improved his pillars.

They made kings, but not through me. They set up princes, but I knew it not. With their silver and gold they made idols for their own destruction.

You were unmindful of the Rock that bore[5] you, and you forgot the God who gave you birth.
