But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night and said to him, "Behold, you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man's wife."

And he dreamed, and behold, there was a ladder[2] set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it!

and Laban said to him, "Surely you are my bone and my flesh!" And he stayed with him a month.

He fled with all that he had and arose and crossed the Euphrates, and set his face toward the hill country of Gilead.

Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.

And one night they both dreamed -- the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison -- each his own dream, and each dream with its own interpretation.

and behold, there came up out of the Nile seven cows attractive and plump, and they fed in the reed grass.

On that night the king could not sleep. And he gave orders to bring the book of memorable deeds, the chronicles, and they were read before the king.

Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, "Every son that is born to the Hebrews[1] you shall cast into the Nile, but you shall let every daughter live."

If they will not believe even these two signs or listen to your voice, you shall take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground, and the water that you shall take from the Nile will become blood on the dry ground."

And the waters of the sea will be dried up, and the river will be dry and parched,

speak, and say, Thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lies in the midst of his streams, that says, 'My Nile is my own; I made it for myself.'

and the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste. Then they will know that I am the LORD."Because you[3] said, 'The Nile is mine, and I made it,'

Besides, while he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent word to him, "Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered much because of him today in a dream."

For the land that you are entering to take possession of it is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and irrigated it,[2] like a garden of vegetables.
