she took off her widow's garments and covered herself with a veil, wrapping herself up, and sat at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the road to Timnah. For she saw that Shelah was grown up, and she had not been given to him in marriage.

Then Judah identified them and said, "She is more righteous than I, since I did not give her to my son Shelah." And he did not know her again.

And behold, the woman meets him, dressed as a prostitute, wily of heart.[3]

now in the street, now in the market, and at every corner she lies in wait.

Lift up your eyes to the bare heights, and see! Where have you not been ravished? By the waysides you have sat awaiting lovers like an Arab in the wilderness. You have polluted the land with your vile whoredom.

At the head of every street you built your lofty place and made your beauty an abomination, offering yourself[6] to any passerby and multiplying your whoring.
