So he came near and kissed him. And Isaac smelled the smell of his garments and blessed him and said, "See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field that the LORD has blessed!

And of Joseph he said, "Blessed by the LORD be his land, with the choicest gifts of heaven above,[9] and of the deep that crouches beneath,

By faith Isaac invoked future blessings on Jacob and Esau.

For land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God.
