Now then, take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me,

Therefore stay awake -- for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the cock crows,[3] or in the morning --

yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

But David vowed again, saying, "Your father knows well that I have found favor in your eyes, and he thinks, 'Do not let Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved.' But truly, as the LORD lives and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death."
