And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.

"Six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; that your ox and your donkey may have rest, and the son of your servant woman, and the alien, may be refreshed.

Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall be put to death.

It is a sign forever between me and the people of Israel that in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.' "

"If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure[3] on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the LORD honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure,[4] or talking idly;[5]

But Jesus answered them, "My Father is working until now, and I am working."

but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant, or your ox or your donkey or any of your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you.

for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.

For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way: "And God rested on the seventh day from all his works."
