He said to him, "Behold, I grant you this favor also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken.

And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.

Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city. Will you then sweep away the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous who are in it?

Behold, this city is near enough to flee to, and it is a little one. Let me escape there -- is it not a little one? -- and my life will be saved!"

Escape there quickly, for I can do nothing till you arrive there." Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.[1]

He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.

The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.

And the LORD said to Moses, "This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name."

Thus says the LORD concerning this people: "They have loved to wander thus; they have not restrained their feet; therefore the LORD does not accept them; now he will remember their iniquity and punish their sins."

I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence[3] he will rise and give him whatever he needs.

Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

Then David received from her hand what she had brought him. And he said to her, "Go up in peace to your house. See, I have obeyed your voice, and I have granted your petition."
