Genesis 13:18

So Abram moved his tent and came and settled by the oaks[2] of Mamre, which are at Hebron, and there he built an altar to the LORD.

to the place where he had made an altar at the first. And there Abram called upon the name of the LORD.

Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, who was living by the oaks[1] of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and of Aner. These were allies of Abram.

And the LORD appeared to him by the oaks[1] of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day.

When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.

And Sarah died at Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham went in to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.

So he built an altar there and called upon the name of the LORD and pitched his tent there. And there Isaac's servants dug a well.

And Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre, or Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had sojourned.

So he said to him, "Go now, see if it is well with your brothers and with the flock, and bring me word." So he sent him from the Valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

After this David inquired of the LORD, "Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah?" And the LORD said to him, "Go up." David said, "To which shall I go up?" And he said, "To Hebron."

I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.

They went up into the Negeb and came to Hebron. Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, were there. (Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling;

By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise.

Then Joshua blessed him, and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.

According to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, he gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh a portion among the people of Judah, Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron (Arba was the father of Anak).
