And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so.

And God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants[4] yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth." And it was so.

He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not split open under them.

You make springs gush forth in the valleys; they flow between the hills;

to him who by understanding made the heavens, for his steadfast love endures forever;

Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens!

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above[1] proclaims his handiwork.

Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.

If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth, and if a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it will lie.

And the men marveled, saying, "What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?"
