They do all their deeds to be seen by others. For they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long,

The God of this people Israel chose our fathers and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with uplifted arm he led them out of it.

"You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

And the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great deeds of terror,[1] with signs and wonders.

And they abandoned the LORD, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt. They went after other gods, from among the gods of the peoples who were around them, and bowed down to them. And they provoked the LORD to anger.
