As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb[1] of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.

"Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding.

who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number:

O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.

You have multiplied, O LORD my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told.

How great are your works, O LORD! Your thoughts are very deep!

And I applied my heart[6] to seek and to search out by wisdom all that is done under heaven. It is an unhappy business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with.

The wind blows to the south and goes around to the north; around and around goes the wind, and on its circuits the wind returns.

He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.

I have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.

That which has been is far off, and deep, very deep; who can find it out?

then I saw all the work of God, that man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun. However much man may toil in seeking, he will not find it out. Even though a wise man claims to know, he cannot find it out.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.

The wind[4] blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
