For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure that the LORD bore against you, so that he was ready to destroy you. But the LORD listened to me that time also.

Therefore he said he would destroy them -- had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to turn away his wrath from destroying them.

Then the people cried out to Moses, and Moses prayed to the LORD, and the fire died down.

"I myself stayed on the mountain, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights, and the LORD listened to me that time also. The LORD was unwilling to destroy you.

then the anger of the LORD will be kindled against you, and he will shut up the heavens, so that there will be no rain, and the land will yield no fruit, and you will perish quickly off the good land that the LORD is giving you.

And the LORD was so angry with Aaron that he was ready to destroy him. And I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.

Even at Horeb you provoked the LORD to wrath, and the LORD was so angry with you that he was ready to destroy you.

Indeed, so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, "I tremble with fear."
