Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the LORD your God is giving you.

Whoever is steadfast in righteousness will live, but he who pursues evil will die.

"If a man is righteous and does what is just and right --

walks in my statutes, and keeps my rules by acting faithfully -- he is righteous; he shall surely live, declares the Lord GOD.

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness,[2] and to walk humbly with your God?

For Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that the person who does the commandments shall live by them.

"You shall not plant any tree as an Asherah beside the altar of the LORD your God that you shall make.

"And now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the rules that I am teaching you, and do them, that you may live, and go in and take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
