Then Daniel was brought in before the king. The king answered and said to Daniel, "You are that Daniel, one of the exiles of Judah, whom the king my father brought from Judah.

Then the returned exiles did so. Ezra the priest selected men,[2] heads of fathers' houses, according to their fathers' houses, each of them designated by name. On the first day of the tenth month they sat down to examine the matter;

And a proclamation was made throughout Judah and Jerusalem to all the returned exiles that they should assemble at Jerusalem,

Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the returned exiles were building a temple to the LORD, the God of Israel,

And the people of Israel, the priests and the Levites, and the rest of the returned exiles, celebrated the dedication of this house of God with joy.

Among these were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah of the tribe of Judah.

Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste and said thus to him: "I have found among the exiles from Judah a man who will make known to the king the interpretation."

Then the king gave Daniel high honors and many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon.

There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the spirit of the holy gods.[4] In the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods were found in him, and King Nebuchadnezzar, your father -- your father the king -- made him chief of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and astrologers,

I have heard of you that the spirit of the gods[5] is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you.

O king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father kingship and greatness and glory and majesty.

Belshazzar, when he tasted the wine, commanded that the vessels of gold and of silver that Nebuchadnezzar his father[1] had taken out of the temple in Jerusalem be brought, that the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them.

Then they answered and said before the king, "Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or the injunction you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day."

In the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after that which appeared to me at the first.

And I, Daniel, was overcome and lay sick for some days. Then I rose and went about the king's business, but I was appalled by the vision and did not understand it.

After this Jesus went about in Galilee. He would not go about in Judea, because the Jews[1] were seeking to kill him.

So his brothers[2] said to him, "Leave here and go to Judea, that your disciples also may see the works you are doing.
