And I did so in Jerusalem. I not only locked up many of the saints in prison after receiving authority from the chief priests, but when they were put to death I cast my vote against them.

As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.[2]

Then they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.

And Saul approved of his execution. And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

But Saul was ravaging the church, and entering house after house, he dragged off men and women and committed them to prison.

And all who heard him were amazed and said, "Is not this the man who made havoc in Jerusalem of those who called upon this name? And has he not come here for this purpose, to bring them bound before the chief priests?"

And when he had come to Jerusalem, he attempted to join the disciples. And they were all afraid of him, for they did not believe that he was a disciple.

Now as Peter went here and there among them all, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.

And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.

For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it.

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God,To the saints who are in Ephesus, and are faithful[1] in Christ Jesus:

And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.[1] When I saw her, I marveled greatly.
