Now those who were scattered because of the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.

The Jews said to one another, "Where does this man intend to go that we will not find him? Does he intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?

But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who on coming to Antioch spoke to the Hellenists[2] also, preaching the Lord Jesus.

The report of this came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.

Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger,[1] Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus.

And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, "It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.

and from there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had fulfilled.

Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They sent Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brothers,

So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, describing in detail the conversion of the Gentiles, and brought great joy to all the brothers.[1]

So when they were sent off, they went down to Antioch, and having gathered the congregation together, they delivered the letter.

But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

And there arose a sharp disagreement, so that they separated from each other. Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus,

When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church, and then went down to Antioch.

And some of the disciples from Caesarea went with us, bringing us to the house of Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we should lodge.

And having found a ship crossing to Phoenicia, we went aboard and set sail.

God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning every one of you from your wickedness."

Thus Joseph, who was also called by the apostles Barnabas (which means son of encouragement), a Levite, a native of Cyprus,

And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch.

But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.
