Then Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, "Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over and take off his head."

Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered, "Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD's anointed?"

But David said, "What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should this day be as an adversary to me? Shall anyone be put to death in Israel this day? For do I not know that I am this day king over Israel?"

So Joab and Abishai his brother killed Abner, because he had put their brother Asahel to death in the battle at Gibeon.

After whom has the king of Israel come out? After whom do you pursue? After a dead dog! After a flea!
