by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises.

For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord,[6] are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you,

Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, "And to offsprings," referring to many, but referring to one, "And to your offspring," who is Christ.

For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness.

Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.[8]

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

Simeon[1] Peter, a servant[2] and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you,[1] not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

And this is the promise that he made to us[4] -- eternal life.

Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears[1] we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
