But I acted for the sake of my name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they lived, in whose sight I made myself known to them in bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

"Thus shall my anger spend itself, and I will vent my fury upon them and satisfy myself. And they shall know that I am the LORD -- that I have spoken in my jealousy -- when I spend my fury upon them.

Then the LORD became jealous for his land and had pity on his people.

So the angel who talked with me said to me, 'Cry out, Thus says the LORD of hosts: I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion.

His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will consume me."

So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.

And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: "Though the number of the sons of Israel[3] be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will be saved,
